Varma’s rental apartments
At Arabianranta, the residential area is urban and densely built, with modern apartment buildings located next to the tramway track but also near the seashore. Construction in the area began at the turn of the 2000s, and the housing stock represents modern construction following the common theme of art. The facades, stairwells and yards of the buildings are complemented by beautiful design and works of art.

Arabiankatu 4
Completed in 2015, this building represents the area’s newer building stock. The building’s upper floors offer a fantastic view of the sea. The seashore is just a few minutes away, and the open landscape of the park that runs along the seashore leads all the way to the Vanhankaupunginkoski rapids. At one corner of the building is a sports park that offers the possibility to engage in activities ranging from tennis to football. In winter, the park is turned into a skating rink. Grocery shopping can be taken care of nearby, at the grocery store on Arabiankatu or in Arabia Shopping Centre, located less than a kilometre away.
The common areas in the building consist of the saunas, laundry room, club room and basement storages. It is also possible to rent a parking spot from the housing company.
Arabiankatu 8
This building, completed in 2016, also represents the newer building stock in the area. The upper floors of the 14-storey apartment building offer a fantastic view of the sea. The building houses 65 apartments, each with its own balcony or at least a balconette. The common areas in the building consist of the saunas, laundry room, club room and basement storages. The building does not have an inner courtyard. It is also possible to rent a parking spot from the housing company. In spring 2021, a coworking space with rentable workstations for teleworking was completed on the building’s ground floor.
The block’s development includes future housing plans
The Arabia135 block has been built in stages over the past 140 years, and it is constantly evolving. The starting point for its development is a lively and inviting hybrid block that highlights its special characteristics. The architecture reflects the block’s many historical layers, wide range of activities and unique industrial setting.
The aim of new construction is to incorporate the old block structure and form a truly unique and inviting complex.
